The Top 5 Time-Saving Social Media Tools

Regardless of how fun and valuable your social media platforms are, every minute spent on them is a minute you’re not spending on your real work. It can get addicting to sit and hit refresh all day, but what if you could have the same (or a higher) level of quality automatically?

Here are the top 5 social media tools that will finally let you lift your head from your phone without worrying about what you’re missing out on.

#1. Buffer

Buffer is a tool that allows you to schedule posts to be published at specific times in the day. If you’re going on vacation for a week, but still want to provide value to your followers, you can schedule up to 100 posts in advance. You can schedule posts in advance across Facebook (Pages, Groups, or even your personal profile), LinkedIn (individual or company profile), Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest.

Each post you make through Buffer includes automatic link-shortening, analytics and the option to re-Buffer the same content. If you have trouble thinking of what to add to your social media profiles, Buffer even has a easy-to-use browser extension that will allow you to share content you like with just one click.

#2. Pablo (by Buffer)

You no longer need a graphic designer on-hand to create engaging images to add on to your social media. Pablo is a free tool that lets you create clean graphics that you can tack onto your social media posts in less than a minute. It’s seriously simple.

Adding images to your social media posts can often double the amount of click throughs, likes, retweets, and comments. Now, with Pablo, you have no excuse to leave this tactic off the table.

#3. LinkedIn Connected

LinkedIn-Connected-Screenshots

Do you struggle to remember to follow-up with your professional contacts because you just don’t know what to say? The LinkedIn Connected app automatically tells you when important things like birthdays, promotions, and anniversaries happen. This makes it easy to reach out and say something genuine.

What if someone’s not already a long-time contact and you’re meeting them for the first time? No problem! LinkedIn Connected gives you information about what your contact is interested in and what you have in common. You no longer have to do hours of research crawling through their social media profiles, LinkedIn Connected will tell you the information that is most relevant to you within minutes.

4. Haiku Deck

You know that blog post, podcast, or video that was a mega hit… a year ago?

There’s a way to make it fresh, new, and valuable again — within minutes.

Haiku Deck makes it incredibly simple to make visually appealing presentations that you can automatically publish to SlideShare. Top decks on SlideShare sometimes get over 1,000,000 views, giving your content a whole new medium to shine.

5. IFTTT

IFTTT is the ultimate automation tool. People have used it in thousands of different ways, from getting an email whenever there’s a recurring task on your to-do list or automatically republishing Instagram picture to Twitter as an image instead of a link.

IFTTT is limitless, and plenty of people have posted their “recipes” publicly to give anyone an idea of just how far-reaching the uses of IFTTT are. It integrates with all the apps you can think of, and it’s adding more each and every day.

This app won’t only automate your social media, it has the potential to automate your entire life.

Using these tools, you can finally sit back and relax. You can engage and delight on social media without actually having to e there anymore. Now go out, and make it happen.

Grow your Twitter following by thousands FAST in 3 easy steps

Twitter is a social networking platform used to follow people, share interests, participate in conversations and find out what’s happening in the world right at this moment.

And there are more than 255 million active users sending 500 million tweets per day!

Anyone can read, write and share messages of up to 140 characters, which are available to the whole Twitter community and can also be found in search engines.

Twitter is a great opportunity to build brand awareness, generate leads, encourage “social signals” of your content, network as well as monitor your online reputation and what is being said about your brand.

But, unless you’re Ashton Kutcher or Oprah, you’ll need to hustle to build your fan base.

So how do you grow your Twitter following fast?

Introducing Tweepi … an awesome little tool that allows you to follow the followers of Twitter accounts where your customers are already hanging out.

You can get started using Tweepi for free, but I highly recommend paying the small monthly fee and go Platinum which will allow you to follow 200 people at a time making the process easier and quicker.

Before you get started, make sure your Twitter profile is complete and looking fabulous. You only have a few seconds to make an impression, so update your avatar, write an engaging bio and make sure your profile is consistent with your brand.

Now head on over to Tweepi.

With their easy-to-use dashboard, identify the Twitter accounts that your ideal customers follow.

These accounts could be your competitors (a little cheeky, but totally awesome), business groups and organisations, thought leaders, authors, podcasters, show hosts and other types of influencers.

Using Tweepi’s tools, follow these accounts ON MASS. Do this everyday.

Don’t stress, it will only take you a few minutes!

The idea is 2-4 per cent will follow you back.

Here’s a daily routine that will massively grow your Twitter following:

  1. Mass follow around 800 people per day
  2. Unfollow those who don’t follow you back within 5 days (to keep your following count low)
  3. Rinse and repeat

Unfollowing those who don’t follow you back is key.

Twitter has restrictions on how many people you can follow and you don’t want to get flagged for being a spammer. You can do this easily within Tweepi.

The goal of this process is to grow your following and the reach of your content, but the process itself will also get you in front of potential customers.

When a potential customer sees you followed them, they’ll check out your profile and website, which they can click through to learn more, sign up for your email list, and more.

Remember, even if you have a massive following, you still need to delight and entertain them every step of the way.

You can’t just tweet about your own projects, blog posts and thoughts. Share what you’re reading and what inspires you periodically using a tool like Buffer.

When you share good content, you’ll find your tweets get more favourites, replies and retweets. This will naturally bring in new followers and each new follower brings the chance to sign on a new customer.

Happy tweeting!

Why I Have No Problems Paying Zuckerburg & Neither Should You

Facebook Like

You have a Facebook Page, you’re engaging with your loyal fans and getting amazing reach with your page “Likes” growing by the day.

Then, BAM.

Zuckerburg moves the goal posts, decreasing the amount of people who would organically see your Facebook posts.

Now you need to work harder to get the same results and you’re just a little bit peeved.

How dare he?!? Why should I have to pay for advertising to reach my customers?

This has definitely caused a bit of a ruckus within the business community and I often hear how people feel hard done by now they’re “forced” to advertise in order to reach the same amount of people previously.

But here’s the thing … I have no problems paying for Facebook Advertising.

It baffles me that businesses believe they’re entitled to a free ride. I might ruffle a few feathers by saying this, but it’s kinda a little arrogant and misguided.

You’re using this platform to make money and grow your business. And Zuckerburg should allow you to use his infrastructure (that costs him millions to build and maintain) for free, why?

Would you allow a random business to set up shop in your house and not pay rent, electricity, internet and phone? I didn’t think so.

As social media guru Guy Kawasaki says “Facebook is not a charity – don’t expect to get your brand message out for free”.

I love Facebook. It has been pivotal for my business growth.

Sure, Facebook can change the game at any time. But at the end of the day, Facebook has 1.5 billion monthly active users, and chances are, your ideal customers are part of that.

So Facebook has made it a little harder to reach those people …

I see this as an opportunity.

An opportunity to rise above the crowd and do better than those still whinging about the lack of organic reach on Facebook.

Setting up a Facebook Business Page is still free. Facebook still allows you to connect with your audience through photos, text, video and more – for absolutely no cost.

Time to hustle. Time to go with the Facebook flow and play Zuckerburg’s game if you must.

If Facebook video is what’s appearing in people’s news feeds, then post more video.

Have a look at what is being shared in your personal new feed. Post more of that.

Keep an eye on your Facebook Insights. Was there a particular post preforming better than others? Post more of that.

Research what’s working for other businesses and reverse engineer their success, because there are still many businesses out there who are getting crazy organic reach.

Take Simple Green Smoothies for example. Or Cooking For Busy Mums. These guys have a crazy organic following!

Test and measure. If it isn’t working, try something else.

Want to fast-track results? Try Facebook Advertising.

Promoting your best content maximises your reach and it puts your content in the hands of the RIGHT people.

It doesn’t have to burn a whole in your pocket. YOU set the budget. Start with $1 per day and increase your spend as you start to see results.

The key is to be targeted – if you market to everyone, you market to no one.

  • Are they Male or Female?
  • What occupations are they in?
  • Where are they located?
  • What are their interests?
  • What Facebook Pages do they follow?
  • What device are they using the most – Desktop or Mobile?

Your objective is to put your content in front of exactly the right people and none of the wrong people.

Facebook Advertising is a powerful tool and an opportunity for those who want to stand out from the crowd rather than follow.

Now get out there and do the Facebook hustle!

Addicted to Facebook? Me Too. 9 Reasons Why I Just Can’t Stop

Addicted to Facebook? Me too! 9 reasons why I think Facebook is awesome

Hello, my name is Kylie and I’m a Facebookoholic …

And you know what? That’s perfectly fine with me!

Yes, I freely admit the first thing I do before getting out of bed is … check Facebook. While I’m watching TV, I’m on my phone … checking Facebook. And when I’m working, there is a browser window open permanently so I can … check Facebook.

I may also be guilty of having my mobile handy in restaurants if I need to … check Facebook and post the obligatory “what am I having for dinner” photo.

I confess, I LOVE Facebook.

So why is hating on Facebook the new cool?

I have friends undergoing Facebook detoxes and technology free weekends. Then there’s those scaling back their usage because of privacy concerns or cancelling your account entirely because it’s the “hipster” thing to do.

Even businesses are whinging about a deliberate decrease in engagement as part of a sinister plot by Facebook to push businesses toward advertising.

Well yes and I actually have no problems with that … but let’s save that one for another post.

The things is, while the number of anti-Facebook hipsters continue to grow, my usage has only increased.

I am a Facebook addict and proud of it!

So I wanted to share with you why I think Facebook so awesome.

1. Facebook is my journal

Every post is almost like a diary entry documenting the milestones and precious moments over the years – both good and bad.

And with Facebook’s recent addition of the “This is what happened 2 years ago today” reminders, these memories are never forgotten.

Remember the controversial change to your Facebook Profile that had all your posts displayed like a historical timeline?

It kinda bombed and disappeared as quickly as it appeared.

I loved it.

As I scrolled down the page, I saw the past five years unfold before me revealing every milestone of my 4-year-old little man and all the memories in between.

But your Facebook experience is as good as the effort you put in. Make every post count. Celebrate the milestones. Share what’s important to you right at this moment.

And maybe a little less of the “look what my dog did”. Just say’n!!

2. Family is never far away

My little bro Matthew lives in Hong Kong and I live in Australia, but it really feels like he’s just around the corner.

At any given moment I know what he’s up to and never miss a single important moment in his life. And they don’t miss out on mine!

Distance is not an issue. Facebook connects our lives, so we don’t miss a thing.

And if I haven’t heard from him in a while, he is just a Facebook Message away.

3. Reconnect with old friends

My Dad was a teacher, so we moved around a bit when I was in school and there have been many friends over the years which I had lost contact with.

Back then, there were no mobile phones … or internet for that matter! (HUH, showing my age!) Long distance phone calls were costly for regular catchups, so the trusty old pen paper was really the only way to stay in contact. And that wore thin after a while.

Thanks to Facebook, I have reconnected with my childhood best friends who I hadn’t spoken to for more than 20 years. And many more friends have found me over the years.

I can chat with friends who would’ve otherwise been lost to me at a moment’s notice.

4. Organise events with ease

Forget paper invitations or ringing around to arrange a BBQ!

Just set up a Facebook event and have guests RSVP in one click. Easy peasy.

No more chasing those who couldn’t be bothered sending you an RSVP (pet peeve, raaa. Ok, so I might be guilty of it too …). Just send them a Facebook message.

5. Stay on the pulse

Facebook allows me to keep up with the latest news and entertainment – and see what real people think about it. Love it or hate it, Facebook is the biggest social platform in the world and when it says something is trending, it really is trending.

6. Become one of the tribe

I’ve gone a little crazy with Facebook Groups. They allow me to connect to people with the same interests as me. From Business to Photography, Bloggers to Thermomix Lovers, I can join communities (or tribes) of likeminded enthusiasts and get support when I need it the most.

I just love that I can ask a question and have 10 comments in 10 minutes from a collective of knowledge and experience.

7. Connect with like-minded savvy entrepreneurs

Where else can I find others as passionate about business, from all around the world – in one place?

Many of my closest business friendships have been forged on Facebook.

8. Where else am I going to find funny cat videos?!

Or talking twin babies. Or scary spider dogs.

9. Facebook is jam-packed with my future customers

You see. I’m not the only one who loves Facebook.

There are millions of people on Facebook – right now – liking pages, getting involved in groups, connecting with family, engaging with brands, sharing content and posting a selfie or two.

You need to be where you’re customers are and Facebook is where they are at!

So how can you use this to your advantage?

Social Media: Boogeyman or The Bomb?!

Social-Media-kreative-media-brisbane-web-design-kylie-garner-branding

Just when you thought it was safe to “Post your comment” and mastered the art of telling the world what your cat is having for dinner in “140 characters” – BAM! Here comes Google+, Pinterest, Instagram, Pajamagram and all the rest.

OK, so maybe not Pajamagram. As for the rest, they can be tad overwhelming and downright scary. But here’s the thing, you can love it or hate it, but there’s no way around it – if you aren’t on Social Media you are losing business and giving your competitors the edge.

So throw caution to the wind and come on in – the water is fine!

Social Media is a marketing bonanza! Yes, even for YOU! So sit back, relax and breathe. I am here to demystify Social Media. It really isn’t that scary, I promise! In fact, you have probably been practicing safe Social Media for years!

But before we dig deep, let’s make sure we’re all on the same page about “marketing.”

It’s easy – marketing is everything your company does to identify and then persuade your customers your product is the best…the easiest, cheapest, newest, fastest, smartest, prettiest “gotta have it” product they will ever find.

Yours is the RED CRAYON in a box of blah!

Then your “Marketing Strategy” includes all the other crayons left in the box – advertising, public relations, direct mail, newsletters, brochures, yadda, yadda. Right? Well, not quite. Have you ever gone to a networking function, spoke to a potential customer on the phone or even explained to someone you’ve met at a BBQ what you do for a living?

THAT, my friend, is Social Media and you are already doing it! Dig deeper.

See? Social Media is not so scary after all. It’s communicating, interacting, connecting and networking with people just like you. It’s sharing, discussing or creating information and ideas. That’s it.

Only now we’re doing it online and instead of coming face-to-face with just a few, come to Facebook and make friends with 1.3 billion users. Or just the ones you know. Or used to know. Or want to know. It’s your choice how you use Social Media.

So let’s get down to business.

Perhaps, the biggest change, in business today, is the importance of the relationship between the company and their customer. More than ever before, people value who they do business with as much as they value the actual product. Wow, opportunity, indeed!

So how can you use social media, in your business, to develop that special relationship with your customers? Here are six suggestions to help you start now:

  1. Write a BLOG – Content is King so rock your audience with killer tips and trends; exciting new technology; colorful tidbits; provocative solutions and more. Tempt them, tease them, make them ask for more. Be audacious!
  2. Educate, don’t sell – We can all smell a sales pitch from miles away, so avoid it like the plague. Instead keep them coming back for more by providing information, free tips or simply entertain your customers.
  3. Create a Contest/Take a Survey – Invite your customers to come out and play. Engage your fans. Reward them. Let them help develop your brand; it helps develop their loyalty!
  4. Offer a place for “Comments” – Keep the conversation going…with you, with each other. Let them talk about their likes and needs. Who knows better than they do? Listen well.
  5. Direct them here, there and EVERYWHERE – Create your strategy, keep it moving and take your customer with you. Start a story here but end it over there…on your website or a product review or another application. Ask an edgy question but let them answer it. Anywhere they’d like.
  6. Produce a video – Every minute, 100 hours of video is uploaded to YouTube and viewed by 490 million users, per month! Give them something fabulous to look at – YOU! A short, animated video (30 – 90 seconds) will grab attention and hold it.

Finally, here’s the big take-away, Social Media is for real people, like you. If you love what you do, believe in your product and care about your customers, here’s your chance to blow your competition out of the water.

So pull off your tie, kick off your heels and go forth and prosper – greet your best customers on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest … or Pajamagram
